Mark your calendars.  On September 13, EPA will hold a meeting to consult with manufacturers, processors, and representatives of such entities who are potentially subject to fees under the Toxic Substances Control Act as amended by the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act (TSCA).  The meeting will be held in the Horizon Ballroom of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington D.C.  Remote participation via webinar/teleconference will also be available.  Additional information on the upcoming meeting, including registration instructions, will be provided shortly.

The upcoming meeting follows an August 11, 2016 meeting where the EPA sought initial input from Industry on the Agency’s development of proposed regulations addressing the collection of fees under TSCA.  The Agency’s Powerpoint presentation from the August 11th meeting is available at:  There is still time to provide written comment to the docket.  Submit comments at by August 24, 2016.  The docket number is EPA-HQ-OPPT-201-0401.

Recent amendments to TSCA place additional responsibilities on the EPA.  To assist with the funding of these requirements, TSCA authorizes EPA to collect fees to defray the cost of administering certain provisions of the law.  The Agency must first put a rule in place to require fees.  EPA intends to publish a proposed fees rule in December 2016 and a final rule in June 2017.  Input obtained from the consultation meetings, along with written comments submitted to the docket will help inform the development of the fees rule.
