A miscellaneous trade bill reinstating duty breaks for hundreds of imported products continues to be stalled due to a self-imposed ban by House Republicans on legislation with earmarks, which have been interpreted to include the duty reduction measures in the MTB. Inside US Trade reports that Democratic members of the House Ways and Means Committee do not appear inclined to try to advance the MTB without Republican support, leading some observers to speculate that the MTB may not be approved until after congressional elections this November.
