In a staff memo, EPA announced a new Acting Assistant Administrator (AA) of the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP). Jim Jones has been picked to fill in for Steve Owens, until a political appointee gets nominated. Given the political landscape it would come as no surprise if Jim Jones remains acting AA for a quite a while. Jim Jones has nearly 20 years experience working at EPA and will be coming from the Office of Air and Radiation (OAR) where he is currently serving as deputy administrator.
Steve Owens, assistant administrator of OCSPP, announced his resignation to EPA staff on October 25th, 2011 after two years at the helm citing family reasons for his departure. Steve Owens’ last day will be November 30th.
